Eligibility Criteria:

You may be eligible to apply for the OIST Research Internship Program if you fall into one of the categories below.

  • You are currently enrolled in one of the final two years of a bachelor’s degree
  • You are currently enrolled in any year of a master’s degree
  • You have already graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree

Bachelor’s students must have completed their first two years of study, since this foundation is required to build the internship skills upon. If you will begin your third year by the proposed internship start date, you are welcome to apply. Master’s students may apply at any point during their degree.

Please note that current or graduated PhD students are not eligible for this program. OIST’s Research Internship is designed specifically for those seeking more research experience ahead of a future PhD application.

An English proficiency test is not required for this program, unlike the OIST PhD Program application. However, since research and collaboration take place in English, this internship can also serve as valuable practice for working in an international laboratory setting.
