What Is the SEAP Fellows 2026 Programme?
The SEAP Fellows 2026 Programme is a three-month, full-time remote fellowship launched by Nationality for All (NFA), an international human rights organization working on statelessness, nationality rights, and legal identity. The fellowship is built around NFA’s flagship project: the Statelessness Encyclopedia Asia Pacific (SEAP).
SEAP is one of the most comprehensive regional knowledge resources documenting statelessness, nationality laws, legal identity systems, and exclusion across the Asia-Pacific. It serves civil society groups, researchers, policymakers, and affected communities by making accurate, accessible, and well-sourced information available across the region.
For this fellowship cycle, NFA is seeking two fellows to support the development of the Second Edition of SEAP, with a particular focus on Southeast Asia, East Asia, and Central Asia. The three sub-regions will be divided between the two selected fellows.

What Will the Fellows Do? Key Responsibilities
The two selected fellows will work directly with the NFA research team throughout the three months. Their work will be focused on three core areas:
Factchecking and Additional Research
Fellows will review existing SEAP country factsheets to verify their accuracy and identify areas requiring updates. This involves conducting supplementary desk research to fill knowledge gaps and verifying legal, policy, and statistical information from credible sources. The goal is to ensure that all content in the Second Edition of SEAP is up to date and accurately reflects the current situation in each country.
Website and Report Updates
After the factchecking phase, fellows will move into updating live content on the SEAP website. This includes revising report materials, ensuring that writing is consistent in tone and format across all outputs, and coordinating with the NFA team on edits. Fellows will play a direct role in shaping what the public reads when they visit the SEAP platform.
Citation Integration and Verification
The third area of work focuses on citations. Fellows will add citations to SEAP website content where they are missing and verify existing citations for accuracy and source integrity. This is an essential part of maintaining the credibility and reliability of the encyclopedia as a trusted reference resource.

The fellowship is structured into three clear phases, one for each month:
Month 1 – Onboarding and Factchecking
The first month is dedicated to getting fellows up to speed and starting fieldwork. Fellows will go through a structured orientation covering NFA’s factchecking methodology, citation systems, and website updating processes. Once onboarded, they will begin factchecking and conducting desk research on their assigned sub-regions.
Month 2 – Website and Report Updates
In the second month, fellows shift from research to publication. They will update SEAP website content based on their Month 1 findings, revise report materials, and coordinate closely with the NFA research team to maintain consistency across all outputs.
Month 3 – Citation Updates
The final month is focused on quality control and citation work. Fellows will integrate and verify citations across the SEAP website and carry out final accuracy and consistency checks to prepare the Second Edition for completion.
Training and Support Provided:
NFA understands that this is a fellowship for early-career professionals, and support is built into the programme from day one. Selected fellows will receive:
- A detailed factchecking guide and template to support their research work
- Training on factchecking methodology, citation standards, and website updating systems
- Ongoing mentorship and support from the NFA research team throughout all three months
Fellows are not expected to come in with expertise in every area. The programme is designed to build practical skills on the job.
